African Mandrill

Mandrills are the largest of the monkey species. The call Africa home. The bright colors that they don is believed to help Mandrills recognize one another given the low light of the forest floor.

The Amur (formerly Siberian) Tiger

Interesting fact!! Amur tigers were once know as Siberian tigers. Why the name change? Their habit has been reduced to a small area in Russia called Amur Valley. I photogrphed these tigers during my summer visits to the Calgary Zoo.

Stripes and Striped - Hartmann's Zebra

Photographed on September 20, 2014. Inhabitants of Namibia and Angola these zebra’s stripes are as unique as human fingerprints Stripes are thought to be a form of camouflage but some think that the stripes allow zebras to recognize one another.
