Heaven in the Rockies - Rawson Lake

A recent hike out to Rawson Lake was probably my best hiking experience so far. Rawson Lake is located in Kananaskis Country, Alberta, Canada about one hour west of Calgary.

Despite the fact that I may have been very near to having an encounter with a grizzly bear with no bear spray in hand, it truly was an enjoyable experience. The steep climb to reach the lake was worth it by the breath-taking views, the tranquility I experienced both externally and internally.

I did not travel the trail to the north side of the lake as I was told that grizzly bears love to frequent that area at this time of year. However, there was a bear sighting on the south side very near to where I was.

The photos below are my attempt to share a little piece of the heaven in the mountains that I found.

Tunnel Mountain

I took these photo`s last weekend while hiking Tunnel Mountain. It is located in the Bow River Valley of Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada. Tunnel Mountain, has an easy grade, making it a popular hike and is only 4.3 km round-trip.

Castle in the mountains

I took these photos while in Banff. They are of the Banff Springs Hotel, a luxury hotel that was built during the nineteenth century as one of Canada's grand railway hotels, being constructed in Scottish Baronial style. The hotel was opened to the public on June 1, 1888

My day at Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada

Took a trip to Banff, Alberta today. Really expected to see more snow but there was very little. We explored the town site for most of the day which included Bow Valley Falls. Our final destination was a hike on a trail in Tunnel Mountains. At the very end, we discovered the Hoodoos of Tunnel Mountain but it was getting to late to traverse the slopes downwards...a trip for another day (perhaps next weekend as it is a long weekend for me)

I took over 150 photo`s, three of these photos I could not wait to share. I will share more in the coming days.
