The last of my photos of my hike in Fish Creek Park, Calgary, Alberta. These photographs show just how picturesque Calgary can be in the fall.

Survivors of Killing Frost

It happened last night. The first killing frost at my home in Calgary. I covered my roses in attempt to save them, but most perished. These photographs are the survivors and as you can see, were somewhat touched as well. Amazingly my double hollyhock survived and it was not covered. The second photo captured an amazing story of survival, a ladybug trying to find comfort and warmth in the remaining petals of summer.

This is my post as a tribute to the passing of summer 2012 in Calgary.

Fall in Fish Creek Park

These are just random photos that I took when hiking in Fish Creek Park in Calgary. While fall saddens me because it means an end to the beauty of summer, fall brings with it a different type of beauty and a different scent in the air. These pictures are my way of capturing that beauty.

Autumn in Fishcreek Park

Gardening time in Calgary is nearly over. I did not get any snow like some others in the city did and my plants in the backyard have not been touched by frost yet. However, they are showing signs of a late season making photo opportunities more difficult to find. Tonight will could be my first frosty night so I covered the roses because I cut them so that I can take them to work for everyone to enjoy.

It is not the end of my blogging though. I plan on visiting various indoor gardens throughout the winter months and sharing any photographs that I take. Plus I have many that I have not shared with you (I took 3500 photos since August 1, not all of them good enough to share though)

I have chosen to feature the autumn colors of a very large local park that runs throughout the city of Calgary. I will share these over then next few days. Here is a sampling of what you can expect to see.

Exotic Tropical Plants

I love these plants and flowers. I photographed them at the zoo as they are not native to our Calgary Climate.

As an aside, Calgary will probably experience its first killing frost this week spelling the end of my garden and most other gardens in the area for this year.
