Photographed in Carburn Park in Calgary Alberta, these deer are a common site on a warm winters day. They have adapted quite well to life in an urban center.

Garden Roses

Every year I try to add a new rosebush to my garden and over the years I have lost some. These are the ones that have stood the test of time.

Backyard Garden Pond

I just finished my garden pond. It only took me a day to construct and stain the bridge. It's hard to imagine that 5 years ago, there was nothing in this space. Gardening has taught me a lot about patience.

Golden Eagle

The Golden Eagle is one of the largest, fastest, nimblest raptors in North America. Named for its lustrous gold feathers gleam on the back of its head and neck. Most commonly seen in western North America, preying on the jackrabbits and other small mammals. Occasionally seen attacking large mammals, or fighting off coyotes or bears in defense of its prey and young.

Rough-Legged Hawk

The Rough-legged Hawk spends the summer capturing lemmings on the arctic tundra, a cliff-side nest is called home. They can be seen in the winter in southern Canada and the U.S., where it may be perched on a pole or hovering over a marsh or pasture on the hunt for small rodents.

The Grey Wolf

Grey wolves were once the world’s most widely-distributed mammals, living throughout the northern hemisphere. Today they are extinct in the wild in much of Western Europe, Mexico and the U.S. These wolves currently call the Canadian Rocky Mountains home.

Historical Castle Hotel

These photographs were taken on my last visit to the Banff Springs Hotel in Banff, Alberta. Although the hotel has some current upgrades, there is still a strong presence of history.
