Travelling the Back-Country (Rocky Mountains)

The back-country of the Rocky Mountains provides many scenic opportunities for those on skis, snowshoes, and for those simply donning a pair of hiking boots. I was met with waist deep snow, glorious snow covered mountains and pine and spruce freshly powered with a recent snow fall. I have tried to capture the back-country scenery with the photos below. I have included a brief description of the hike and a trail map following those photos

Burstall Pass is an easy snowshoe trail that it very well marked. There are trails that venture off the main trail so one has to be careful not to get turned around. I travelled the loop. There is very little elevation gain if you stay within the loop making it a perfect hike for the novice snowshoer like myself. The time spent on the trail is about 1.5 hours. It is accessed by taking the Spray Lakes Road either from Canmore, Alberta of from Peter Lougheed Provincial Park.
