Imagine being in a place where you are walking through several inches of powder snow in an area that is sparsely populated by pine trees
. As you gain in elevation at an barely noticeable rate, the snow becomes deeper, the forest thicker and the only sound that can be heard are your footsteps in the snow. Suddenly, you find yourself in a canyon, so deep and at times so narrow that you can touch both sides at the same time. This is the only way I can describe my latest hiking experience at Jura Creek.
Jura Creek, located near Exshaw, Alberta in the Rocky Mountains was an experience I was not expected. I was truly awed by the canyon walls.
