Survivors of Killing Frost

It happened last night. The first killing frost at my home in Calgary. I covered my roses in attempt to save them, but most perished. These photographs are the survivors and as you can see, were somewhat touched as well. Amazingly my double hollyhock survived and it was not covered. The second photo captured an amazing story of survival, a ladybug trying to find comfort and warmth in the remaining petals of summer.

This is my post as a tribute to the passing of summer 2012 in Calgary.
